Thanks to all who gave us their support at the Squiz night held 17th October 2009 at Frome & District Conservative Club. We raised over £500 on the night. CHARITY CRICKET MATCH was held at FROME CRICKET CLUB FROMEFIELD on SUNDAY 26th JULY 2009 Commenced at 2.00pm LOCAL MP KNOCKS CONSTITUENT FOR "I have achieved one of my ambitions" said David Heath, on retiring undefeated after hitting Colin Dredge (The Demon Bowler of Frome) for 4 in the Charity Match held at Frome Cricket Club on Sunday. Earlier, former England International Janet Godman had opened the batting for the Frome Area Christians Together (FACT) Team, retiring undefeated with the top score of 30. Her husband, James, later scored 19 not out. The match had been arranged as part of payman.co.uk ltd’s 20th Anniversary celebrations, whereby they are attempting to raise £5000.00 to be shared between the FACT Youth Fund and the Dissenters Cemetery. The FACT Team batted first in a reduced to 20 overs per side match due to the weather. 129 runs were scored for the loss of just 3 wickets. Due to the weather conditions, the payman team then batted after a short interval (tea being delayed until the end of the match). Mark and Michael Watts, two of Frome Cricket Club’s juniors execelled for the payman team, Mark top-scoring with 28, with captain Craig Parsons scoring 1. Needing 1 to win off the last ball of the match, the payman innings was closed with the score at 129 for 3. Result: Match Tied - RE-MATCH NEXT YEAR ! Adjourning to the Club House for tea, the rain started to fall as the last man in (Mr Heath) ran for the door. Thanks were expressed to all who had participated, and helped in any way, particularly the ladies who had prepared a sumptuous tea, David Heath, Colin Dredge, son, Mark who captained the FACT Team, Craig Dredge (FCC Captain) and brother Keith Dredge. Special thanks to Jim Parsons who organised the event. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day. The President, Mr GF Barnes, and Frome Cricket Club were warmly thanked for making their facilities available.
